Local & Live is searching for the best music in our area

Are you a local musician? Do you want to play at the Local & Live this summer? The campaign is on to recruit the best artists from the area to be showcased at Tunbridge Wells’ famous free music festival.

Following the official launch of Local & Live 2023 last month, the organisers are now inviting applications to play the festival in Calverley Grounds over the August Bank Holiday weekend. ‘We’re exclusively looking for artists who perform their own music,’ says Paul Dunton, the event’s founder and Artistic Director, ’that could be solo singers or bands and either acoustic or electric. The important thing is they are playing original material and are based near Tunbridge Wells.’

There are 60 slots over the weekend up for grabs and those on the main stage often play to more than 1000 people. ‘For many performers, that audience is by far the biggest they’ve ever entertained,’ says Dunton.

The important requirement is that they can play a set of at least 30 minutes of their own music and they are based within 20km of Calverley Grounds, the main venue for Local & Live, in Tunbridge Wells. ‘This is a genuinely local festival in every respect and a unique annual opportunity for the audience to hear the music being created in their own area.’
