Leanie Kaleido

Léanie Kaleido’s flair for writing unique, darkly humorous, emotionally raw lyrics paired with infectious melodies, continues to garner praise and global airplay with each new release.

Her third album, How to Weigh a Whale Without a Scale, released earlier this year, was produced by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound studios in Oxfordshire. On it, her unaffected, lullaby voice remains as sweet as ever, while her lyrics continue to provide the bleaker underbelly of some of her songs.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however. Hat Thief provides a little light-hearted relief, Teapot Girl is strangely poignant, and Kite String Mantra builds into an epic song about never losing hope.

As Bluesbunny Music Reviews once observed, the ‘sweet and charming presentation’ of Léanie’s music ‘is merely a veneer for some dark and dryly amusing lyrics on the subject of life and love.’
