Coot

Coot is the mouthpiece for Tonbridge singer/songwriter, Jon Hunter.  With a fluid line-up of local musicians incorporating the likes of Mike Wilton, Julie Parker, Jez Harley, and Paul Grayson, Coot is known for peddling an individual brand of English pop music leaning towards the timeless songwriting styles of Squeeze, Costello, XTC, et al.

There are 2 albums to date – “Fairweather Friend” (2023), which has more of an acoustic vibe, in songs such as “Emily (come what may)”, drawing comparisons to the melodic lyricism of Cat Stevens – and the latest, “in Springfield” (2025) giving a knowing nod to Rubber Soul/Revolver era Beatles and Tamla Motown.  This is supremely crafted melodic pop music, at its very best!!
