The Fiery Lights write songs that tell stories, laid over a backdrop of alt-rock guitar riffs, pounding drums and the occasional bit of electronic magic.
One of them speaks 4 languages, two of them are called Chris and the singer was so scared of fire as a kid that the school had to call his parents in to ask if he’d ever been trapped in a burning building. The 3 piece met via an ad in their local record store, where they played their first show a few months later. Their debut album, “1982″, is out now on Zungenbrecher Records.
The album’s 10 tracks take in, amongst other things: the true(ish) story of the doomed lovers who embark on spur-of-the-moment holiday a few hours after meeting; a Presidential exit speech ahead of its time; the madness of social media; repeating the same mistakes over and over again; being scared of fire; the chimpanzee left for dead by his tribe who drags himself back up to hunt down those who attacked him; a nod to Elvis Costello; 1980s fizzy drinks and a plethora of other stories, people and moments that stuck in our minds.
Out now on Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. 12” limited edition vinyl release coming later in the year.
