The Fiery Lights

The Fiery Lights write songs that tell stories. Stories set over a backdrop of alt-rock guitars, pounding drums and the occasional bit of electronic magic.

Debut album “1982” takes in: the true(ish) story of the doomed lovers who embark on spur-of-the-moment holiday hours after meeting; a Presidential exit speech ahead of its time; the madness of social media; repeating the same mistakes over and over again; the chimpanzee left for dead by his tribe, dragging himself back up to hunt down those who attacked him; a nod to Elvis Costello; 1980s fizzy drinks; and a plethora of other stories, people and moments that stuck in our minds.

The Fiery Lights were born in mid 2023 when singer / guitarist Ian and drummer Chris met via their local coffee shop in St. John’s, Tunbridge Wells. Sarah (guitar) and Toby (bass) complete the line up. Between them, they have a worrying obsession with power tools (now banned before gigs), lots of knowledge about wolves, a love of pirates, too many guitar pedals for their own good, a plant that can’t be killed and a shared dislike of guitars that have more than 6 strings. Local and Live is their favourite weekend of the year.

New album due winter 2026, with single “Kings” arriving early August.
